SEPTEMBER 2010

White Rabbits!

You may find that FoxyLadyNews looks a little strange from time to time today because I am going to try to put he shopping cart onto the site and we all know that when Foxy Lady tries something new the outcome can not be predicted.

I am hopping over to Zodiac-ads first to say hi to the Zodiac people, then I shall be trying to get the cart on. Also I have to work on this blog a bit more, so again, things may look a little as if Foxy Lady is working on things . . .

A typical White Rabbits day, really.

2nd September 2010

Whoo! Really jinxed myself saying I was going to do the survey in a logical and organised way. I have not been able to get onto the site all day because there had to be an upgrade to accommodate the new shop software. Which so far has been a badger and a half to instal so here goes nothing to getting the thing finished.

Marjorydaw came round tonight to celebrate her birthday a few days late so we have had chocolate fudge cake, mmmmmmm.

So at a quarter to eleven at night I finally return to the battle of the shopping cart and I need the best of British luck , I can tell you.

3rd September 2010

Do you visit sites which never, ever seem to change at all? The reason is probably that the plug ins etc which are so "easy" are in fact so difficult to fathom at first that a lot o people give up in despair.

I have successfully installed the cart and now it won't let me into it! Not HP doesn't begin to go there, I can tell you.

Just to slow me down yet further Kitten Cat made a bid for freedom when I was showing my neighbour how to operate the new locks on the back door and it took me over an hour to get her back again. The firework season has already started here and I don't let her out of my sight because some of the little darlings around here have a warped sense of humour where fireworks and wildlife are concerned.

Finally captured she is tuckered out and snoring the place down, so I reckon she must have enjoyed herself, which of course makes it all worthwhile.

I now have to return to the Battle of the Cart. Bitte, bitte!

4th September 2010

Another day and the shopping cart software has not given up its mysteries but it WILL! Anyone else who thinks the thing is simple please do tell me how to make it so becaue it is really starting to rile me now.

I have been trying to find some plastic storage for items such as cornflakes and can either find the type which more or less disintegrates within a few months or the type for which I would need a mortgage to purchase. I think I am going to have to give in and buy something because nobody is free to take me round the endless department stores which would be necessary to visit in order to purchase both bargain and suitable, sigh.

I have the family here today so seating is scarce, Kitten Cat cannot hog a whole armchair and she is Not Pleased. I have the scars to prove it, too.

I have some multibuy offers to set up on the personal ptc pages which I have put onto the sites and some slight changes to make to the zodiac-ads site so it is all go here today. I did manage to more or less purge the kitchen of all non culinary items, and wonder how many hours/days it will be before all the assorted items drift back there again.

5th September 2010

I have spent a couple of hours in the garden today, I did not mean to spend that long but Kitten Cat flatly refused to come inside so there was no option but to remain out there with her since something attacked two rabbts the other day and whatever it was may still be in the vicinity. She had the most wonderful time until mercifully the wind got up and the temperature suddenly dropped and she could not drag me back imside quickly enough. I have mo idea where she is now, she has slunk off somewhere warm.

I am searching for a new background for zodiac-ads and so far I have looked at over a thousand and am punch drunk with this task. It is a good diversion from the shopping cart, which continues to defeat me and I am not happy about that. Evemtually I shall have a Eureka moment and fathom it bit until I do it is sheer carpet eating frustration.

I also had a pootle around e-Bay and snapped up some lapel pins for my collection. I am surprised nobody else spotted them but hey, I have to have some luck in this world.

I just have to come in to report this one! I finally managed to get into the admin of that wretched card and feeling fully empowered I floated out to make cups of tea - and promptly forgot to put tea bags in any of the cups! Ooops not quite the power business woman yet then!

6th September 2010

Happy Birthday to my super and special friend in Oklahoma who is ---- years young today and if I mention specifics I shall be in big trouble so let's just say 21 again and I shall live to write another day of the blog, giggle.

It was a big day for Kitten Cat today, the first day ever out in a garden and not on a lead! I don't know how she managed it but she STILL managed to come back covered in cobwebs. In fact she did not want to come inside at all, and I had to stoop to that low trick of rattling the treat packet and she came running like Geronimo! So at least I know I CAN get her back now.

The local anti socials are now letting of very loud banger type fireworks, so Kitten Cat is snuggled up as close to me as she can possibly get and Little Lady is not too keen on the noise either. I am all for the pretty fireworks but these constant bangs and booms do give me the pip!

I got another freebie today, a pack of aloe vera facial wipes, so that is something I can cross off the shopping list.

Firmly ON the shopping list is a folding mobility scooter. I am going stir crazy and anyone would think it was spring - I just wanna get out of here!

7th September 2010

What a mixed and exhausting day! First of all we had a lengthy, tiring and downright frustrating game of let's move everything round the room, which Kitten Cat found most alarming and Nemo found very entertaining. Everyone lost their temper but finally the room looks like - wait for it - a lounge! Whooppeee! At last! There is so much floor that Kitten Cat has been throwing herself down all over it all aftenoon, no kidding!

Since there was no sugar, milk or spread a trip to the shops was necessary and that finished me off, I can tell you. Exhausted doesn't begin to go there.

Chaos then FIXED the dead computer - whee! The course he has done must have worked.

I had to do a water change for Nemo and of course he had to soak me totally and flap his little fins in great glee. Kiten Cat did not much enjoy the water though.

She is getting to used to the garden, Chaos caught her trying to scramble over the fence, sigh. She is being chipped next month, she was always such a timid cat it was thought she would never go outside but now she has gone through the fear barrier she wants to be outside all of the time.

I was flopped out here, exhausted and trying to catch up on a day mostly off the computer when the Sky box decided to throw a strop and go on strike. The last time this happened I was avised to turn off and turn on again the set top box, which I did. Naturally, nothing happened so I had to go through the trying to telephone the call centre ritual.

What a performance, put box on standby, lie on stomach, try to see stupid card, grip stupid card, remove stupid card, turn on box, reinsert card. Try to stand up again . . . Who would think a simple thing like that would be so exhausting! Notice it had to happen whilst I am on my own. However, Foxy Lady triumphs again and I am now tapping away and watching TV!

Apparently all the satellite firms have had a terrible day because of the storms raging all over the United Kingdom which have played havoc with all the boxes. So I may have had a bad time with my box but the poor old advisers have been rushed off their feet all day!

Nearly forgot, those lapel pins I ordered from eBay turned up today, and they are perfect! If I ever get the shop cart to work there is something else to go on sale!

So a mixed day but lots of hope that tomorrow something might actually be accomplished, now THERE's thought!

8th September 2010

Grooan, whether it is the stormy weather or the over activity of the last few days I do not know but I can hardly move today so it is a sit at the screen and to heck with the housework day.

I could not get the cart to work in any way so I have installed a different cart and shall see how I fare with that.

My foxy new clothes arrived today and wonder of wonders they all fit and look great so all I need now is a visit from my hairdresser and I am truly foxy again, wheee!

Poor Computer Web Pages Dust Bunny is having a very bad week. The Landlord has had some contractors do some work in the flat above him and in spite of the workmen returning daily to rectify things Dust Bunny is flooded out every time the lady upstairs uses any water. Since he also can not use his electricity every time these events occur he is not at all happy.

I can keep him working by trailing an extension lead and plugging it into the hall socket but in this really cold weather an open front door is not exactly ideal for anyone. It is becoming worringly routine that every time something is fixed in one flat in the block another flat develops problems, ick.

I may not be around much tomorrow as I am off to see the Specialist to see if he can improve on the wonder drug which nearly finished me off last time. I think leaving well alone and letting me recover from this non wonder drug is probably the best thing, I really do.

Meanwhile I am off to see if the cart will work. Oh yes, I transfer back to my own computer later today, so that will also be fun and games, I bet.

9th and 10th September 2010

Well, what a badger of a day was yeterday!

We were stuck in traffic for over an hour so I was late for the hospital appointment, but so was everyone else and I was lucky there because I went straight in and when I came out there ws standing room only in the waiting room. Just got there right. My luck then ran out when I had to wait over an hour for blood tests and then they could not find a flippin vein.

However, I never forget how lucky I am to have access to free healthcare and very good care at that. I would not be here without it.

The weather was absolutely beautiful that morning so Chaos said to put the washing into the machine as soon as we got back, which I thought to be an excellent idea. However, Fate had different plans and we arrived to find that the water was turned up since the demon plumbers were in repairing the damage which has caused Web Pages Dust Bunny to be flooded out for three days running.

When the water was finally turned on so was the water from the clouds and it chucked it down! A miniature lake formed on the road outside and all we needed was the ducks.

Meanwhile the computers had been changed over and surprise, surprise the repaired computer which had worked perfectly refused to work at all and had all the software had to be reinstalled so that was another day off line.

Just to make a really perfect day I allowed Kitten Cat free access to the garden unsupervised, for the first time. I opened the bedroom window (it is a ground floor flat remember) and a few minutes later checked the garden and naturally there was a tabby feline slinking along the path.

"You found it then" I said and the feline crouches and slunk into a u-turn in one fluid movement intending to sneak back in the way she came before I realised she was out, it was just too funny for words. I returned to check on her several times then suddenly she reappeared in the lounge, limping, having manged to hurt her paw. All my fears about letting her out on her own came back with a massive bang. No injury can be found so all I can presume is that she whacked her paw somehow. She is walking fine today but honestly, yesterday is a day to be forgotten.

I am online today and nothing has gone wrong yet so hopefully it was a twenty four hour glitch only.

I intend having another crack at that shopping cart today, so there will probably be a whole lot of anglo saxoning going on!

12th September 2010

A smoother day but we are having a clear out as it is ebay free listing day. I made sure some of the car part clutter went on, heh heh.

Kitten Cat discovered that there is no protection from rain when she is outside, and unfortunately her first experience of this phenomenon was when the skies opened and a soaked and hostile Kitty came into the room at twice the speed of sound. Honestly, you would think I turned the hose on her myself, the looks I got.

I am going to set up the September contest now which will hopefully be lots of fun.

13th September 2010

The Autumn Leaves Contest is going well and already there is a correct answer.

The weather here is highly compatible with the season. Cold, wet and windy, but not half as bad as they have it in Wales.

My Stepson and his fiance are looking for somewhere to live now so if there is anyone in North West Kent who has accommodation for a nice, steady couple, it would be nice to know please.

I am more or less up to date on the sites now and starting to autumn up the pages, and replacing the affiliate page plug ins which did a vanishing act when the sites changed server.

Bit boring for my regular readers as no mishaps today because I have not been out of this chair long enough to fall over, under or through anything, giggle.

14th September 2010

I have been on fine form today. First I dropped the keyboard and kalied the screen for a couple of hours until Chaos finally worked out why it would not work, then I totalled the Sky box and TV. Finally THAT was sorted when it was discovered that I was sitting on one of the control boxes, on the "off" button . . .

My step daughter in law would be a fine pair to my niece as all she could do was laugh and say "stop it, my ribs hurt" for about half an hour.

The Mass Mailer has stopped on Cashfold and so far as we can tell that is not my fault, but if you are a member of Cashfold and not receiving mails that could be the reason. It is being worked on now and should be resolved shortly.

Kitten Cat has been going outside for about a week now and we have a ritual whereby I get stamped on and get my face pawed until I get up and give her breakfast and then I get my ear miaowed in until I go and open the window so that she can get into the garden. Can't win, can I! She has also literally grown about another foot in length, not just my estimation, so how she managed that I have no idea!

15th September 2010

Anyone who remembers the Goodies dashing around shouting "I am a Teapot" can envisage the scene here today. So many visitors that if we were a boat we would have sunk, I kid you not. WHY they all chose today I have no idea. It is over 100 days to Christmas so it can't be that.

On the plus side all of the sites seem to be running Tickety Boo now and I am ready for the eight site, which arrives on 1st October and which is definitely the last addition to the brood this year.

The Stepson has an interview for a job today and I hope he is successful because he has been unfortunate in businesses closing down and being laid off and this business is a fast food one, which ordinarily rides out a recessive storm. Fingers crossed.

I was asked if I still have Little Lady and indeed I do, in fact she is still scalping everyone in her search for nesting material and happy roosting up high, wiggling the stolen hair in her beak in joy.

I am having another crack at the shopping cart. Why is it that everything labelled "simple" or "easy" never is? Not to blonde brain here anyways.

I have some smart new banners being designed so FoxyLadyNews will have a new header banner shortly. Progress at last and for the last ten minutes I have been home alone and definitely not lonely!

16th September 2010

Kitten Cat's love affair with the garden has come to an abrupt end. She has discovered that once winter approaches the garden is COLD. It is very funny to see how fast she scoots in and uses me as a cat warmer before venturing out again.

I think I have cracked the shop thingie and now just have to get the images loaded. Members of my site will be able to achieve discount in the form of cash back to their accounts and there is a fair selection of items going on there some time over the next couple of days.

I have some chicken in the slow cooker so that we can have either chicken and vegetables, chicken casserole or chicken curry for tea depending on who is here and what they like. I absolutely love the slow cooker and use it in lots of different recipes to ensure lovely, tender, melt in the mouth meat.

Nothing has gone wrong today so no comic capers to report but doubtless I shall fall over, through, or onto something before the day is out.

21st September 2010

What a day! Wall to wall visitors and I have messed up the code on the cart. Loads of things on there but there are all for £2 instead of a lesser amount and now I have deleted an , or something and lost the index page! Fight that one another day I think!

At a last resort I will instal the thing on another site and re copy the offended page.

To top off a perfect day I have filed my OU student number somewhere so safe nobody can find the thing so I can't log on there either.

However, I have had the best news ever!!! Quita comes home tomorrow. I am so happy and relieved. She is such a wonderful friend and she is well on the way to recovery. We have arranged to sing a carol duet by telephone at Christmas so that will keep the pigeons off the telephone wires, giggle.

I have also had an abundance which has taken me back to my childhood, when my Grandfather had an allotment and all through the year we had beautiful fresh fruit and vegetables, and my Father, not to be outdone, grew anything that did not grow on the allotment. Oh, the food was beautiful!

I have been brought tomatoes, cooking apples - we are having apple crumble tomorrow! - and lovely fresh green beans. They taste so much better to me, and it may be in the mind, but who cares, they are good!

22nd September 2010

It just gets more and more hectic here. I had visitors all day so lots of cooking and then nobody wanted to watch the soaps so thank goodness they like Holby, that is all that can be said on that.

I have just to sort out how to change the text on the shopping site and that will go live. there are already 40 little lapel pins on there and lots to be added.

Marjorydaw is visiting later and she is bringing me a Rosemary plant. I absolutely adore Rosemary in cooking so that is wonderful!

I have now just knocked my chocolate cake hedgehog onto the deck so a search and retrieve is underway!

23rd September 2010

We had a really nice experience today. Last evening Chaos said that he had not had a drink of cider for years and he would buy a tin at the next shopping trip. This morning Web Pages Dust Bunny knocked on the door and said that he had been given something he could not drink for health reasons - two tins of cider! How's about that for synchronicity?

It is the little things like that which make you smile, isn't it!

We had an absolute down pour today and Kitten Cat raced in from the garden faster than Concorde. The rain literally came down in sheets but she was only damp so that gives an idea of just how fast she can move when the wet stuff is around - she absolutely detests it.

The lake in the middle of the road has returned and I will wager a guess that the top road is impassable, all through about twenty minutes of rain, it really was spectacular!

As regards the shopping cart from hell, I have had to give in and ask for help again since it very unhelpfully prices everything at either £1 or £2 whatever price I want it to be but hopefully once I have this once last piece of help it will be able to be tested and then go live! Members of my site get a small discount for purchases from the shop.

24th September 2010

The weather is certainly fixed in winter mode, once again it has not stopped to rain, merely emptied bucket upon bucket of water from the skies. Kitten Cat is now extremely furious with me because, as you know, I am the one who makes the weather provide rain.

I have had a typical Foxy day. I have mucked up the affiliate page I was setting up on Optin Buzz and discovered that I need more definition in photos of anything sbiny. Bold colours are fine, great photos for the shop, but shiny or etched items do not come up well.

Oh yeah, and I missed out on the item I was bidding on on eBay, so a totally irritating day but somehow I have actually got quite a lot done.

Chaos had a typical Chaos moment too when he locked his keys in the car. Fortunately I still hold a spare set of keys so we were spared the ordeal of Chaos trying to access the car without doing any damage to the car - saved a lot of wear and tear on my nervous system too!

Foxy Lady Shop will go live shortly, I shall be changing the banners and some of the lay out at a later date, but the prices and goods are all correct and ready to walk off the virtual shelves and into your homes. A couple of my friends are giving them a test run and then the Shop link will at last come live. Oh happy day! 25 September 2010

I have had great fun today, whilst trying to photograph items, because Kitten Cat has either been pawing or nosing items off the windowsill, where the light is best for small items, or casting a giant shadow.

We have been freezing to death in here because we have to have the window open in case Madam wants to come in, and I had visitors today who, having heard the explanaton for the freezer zone, asked how many cats I have. Well, as you know, the answer is one. I can't cope with her, let alone more than one. Well, they asked, what is that then? There she was in all her glory, having managed to wrap herself in a blanket! Snoring away, warm, cosy and snug! Needless to say there was a stampede to close the window.

The store is almost live, and many thanks are due to Tony of TGB Enterprises because without his help I definitely would not have cracked this. It IS easy when you know, but you have to know where to look.

Thanks are due to all my friends and supporters who have endured with about six weeks of wailing and gnashing of teeth because the Cart would not do anything I wanted it to do, so thank all of you, ever so much.

26th September 2010

Well a cold and gloomy day more befitting November than September and Kitten Cat is absolutely disgusted at the cruel behaviour of moi, closing the window if she does not wish to go out at that precise moment. Everyone knows that bedroom windows must be left open 24/7 just in case Madam wishes to inspect the garden. Lord, I am so wicked sometimes!

It is sort of Christmas here as I try to decide what to do with the sites decoration and quiz wise and what items to put onto the shop under seasonal. I had the same sort of paradox when I organised social events at a club and with the shop, you are always working three months ahead of the day, but I still make the actual week or day of the event special somehow.

Quita is recovering well, she is still very tired, but she is able to e mail again and it is wonderful to be able to get some sort of normality again.

I am also doing site stats today with one of the nice parts of the site work, which is awarding little advertising gifts to members.

I have not had any Foxy moments today because I have not really moved far enough to trip or fall over anything and Kitten Cat is sulking well out of reach as a penalty for that closed window!

27th September 2010

Whoo another very cold day here and one very wound up Kitten Cat because her window has been closed more often than it has been open.

The sites are all up to date now and I am preparing the Hallowe'en quizzes.

We are going to be decadent today and have a MacDonald's take away which will be rather fun!

So a very brief report today as rushing to get to this treat before everyone changes their mind!

28th September 2010

Happy birthday Pocahontas, I am delighted to remind you that you are now the same age as me heh heh.

The winners page is nearly ready to go onto the sites and the shop is being tested so should go live shortly. I always think these things are best tested as much as possible before letting them loose on the virtual world because there is always a snag and it is nice to find it ahead of time.

Pets At Home has finally got more stock of the cichlid food which is Nemo's favourite and we are hoping that this will perk him up because he has recently been on hunger strike as he does not like the so called cichlid food by a rival brand, which was the only food we could get for him.

I managed to whack my head yet again today, leaning forward to pick up Kitten Cat's dish I lost the room again and the first thing that hit the side of the cupboard was my forehead. Good thing I wear a fringe to hide these things. I am thinking of buying a crash hat for this type of day. There am I flat on the floor and there is Kitten Cat prancing all over me and demanding her food. Loyal critters, cats!

29th September 2010

Always a bitter sweet day for me to remember my Father who would have been 81 today. We have suffered flickering lights and power outages all day so who knows, maybe he is celebrating here it would be nice.

My Father bought me my computer not long before he Passed, and I wonder what he would make of my use of it. He would be pleased I have learned so much but he had littl time for flippancy so I suppose it would be a half full jug there.

We had a terrible morning. Nemo was listing when we woke and we spent all morning trying to keep him going, but in vain. We were told when we were given him that he had a tumour and was not expected to last but we had him for around five years and he was such a character he has left a gaping hole in the lounge.

The Shop has had its first customer and everything went tickety boo so the Shop is now live and available. New objects are added daily as fast as they can be photographed. As you know, photography is not my forte, but I am improving and the no quibble money back guarantee makes any purchase a safe purchase.

So things are progressing stadily now and another game is due to start on Friday. Make sure you keep watching and you don't miss out!

30th September 2010

Another month nearly gone and almost into the winter. Just to make the point the weather today is mid summer . . .

Kitten Cat got into her first scrap today and fortunately the opponent was just as soppy as she is and it mainly consisted of a hissing and pawing match and was broken up by Web Pages Dust Bunny. It was a major concern when she started to use the garden that she would have some mishap so I am relieved it came to nothing and with a bit of luck she will nip back inside next time there is an interloper.

I downloaded all the software for my Open University course today and that took nearly all morning but there is some amazing stuff there and I am certain I shall be able to produce better web sites at the end of the course and this of course will have a knock on effect to the sites looking even better.

Today is the last day to find the leaves as the contest changes in October, so if you would like to take part in this please do it today, before I sweep up the leaves.
<
The shop is now live, and new items are being added as fast as they can be photographed. If you visit and there is nothing to your liking you could email me at foxylady@foxyladynews.co.uk and let me know what you are looking for, if I have it I can get it onto the site next.
