FEBRUARY 201028thWe are at the very end of another month, just a little while to go before we are in the third month of the year. It seems like only yesterday I was stuffing the Christmas chicken! Worldwide there is horrendous weather, with a serious earthquake in Chile following on the heels of the earthquake in Haiti where the poor people are now suffering floods. Parts of America are without power and are cut off from other areas because there is deep snowfall. There have been many deaths in Spain, Portugal and France due to intense flooding, and parts of the UK are on high flood alert. At home Kitten Cat has been in scatty mode all day, which is exasperating and exhausting but what can I do? It is all part of the rich tapestry of Kitty behaviour. Not do be outdone Nemo is hammering his tank in an alarming way. We can not afford to have him break that. The mess which would result is too much to contemplate. Even Little Lady is getting in on the act, gleefully plucking out her feathers and scattering them onto the freshly hoovered carpet. From the little shrieks of glee I think she is VERY aware as to what she is doing. Since we enter the domain of the mad March hare tomorrow, heaven knows what is still in store for us weatherwise. 27thWell skippety doo dah I still have a connection! I half expected the thing to have vanished like the morning dew. I have been sorting the recipe scraps out into the special book and isn't it strange how the minute you are busy everyone wants to know what you are doing? When you say you are getting ready for Christmas people then think you are being sarky, but actually I am, in a way, because I am putting the recipes for bread sauce, stuffing etc into the right place so that I can make them this year, and also make my own puds and mincemeat etc. OK my wrists are not what they were but I shall just have to get to grips with the new fangled food processor which is supposed to be a magic wand where cookery is concerned, and hope that the blurb is halfway true. We are having stew today so there is meat in the slow cooker and Kitten Cat finds this a mesmerising event. I am having to keep a close eye on her so that she does not climb up to investigate further and burn her nose. 26thWell, just what you need when you have been ill for a week. No connection. I have shouted at the computer so much I am can not remember which Anglo Saxon I used or in which order but the thing has just connected and gone sweet as a nut through no apparent intervention of anything to do with the computer. So yippee and let's get something done! Kitten Cat is also restored to full health now, and don't I know it! She is bouncing all over me like a rabid ping pong, and a very heavy ping pong at that. I am covered in bruises and have one very smug little bundle of fur here, I can tell you. I am not sure if we are going to have some snow, we do have gales and it is absolutely freeeezin and altogether a good day not to venture outside. The gale howling down the chimney is louder than the TV! 24thYes, that's right, a whole week without me, the longest ever since I started this blog. We have all been soooooooo ill with gastric flu. Nobody died but we all rather thought we might at one stage or another, it is a nasty, nasty little bug, to be sure. Half of the county has it and the doctor's surgeries are over run with people suffering from the bug. I have returned to find that whilst I was sick a family of trojans attached themselves to a driver somebody downloaded for a printer, so I had to do three falls, a submission or a knock out with those before I could even have a look at the thirteen thousand plus (yikes!) mails that have piled up. I must apologise to members of ThePostedNote which is down for a couple of days because nobody sent through the hosting because basically nobody was well enough to think about practicalities. This has now been rectified and the funding should hit shortly, the site will then be fully operational again. I am hoping this is the Big Thing for this year, as you know I have one per year and usually am knocked off my feet for a while, it has come early this year and now it is out of the way I have my fingers crossed to be going full steam ahead once more. So what have I been doing whilst I have been ill? Well, I have been on several space ships, orbiting around and protecting the earth (honest!)and when I have not been doing that I have been making Ian Towning (an antiques dealer) progressively angrier by out-biding him in auctions. That is the upside of rotten illnesses which give you soaring temperatures. They also give you ace dreams! Oh yes, it has been pointed out to me that I have to share this mental image with you. The illness has made my eyes light sensitive so I am working wearing dark glasses. Sooooo, I look like a zombie and a mad one at that, since I am white as a sheet and wearing sun glasses in mid winter. Indoors . . . and no, no, no there are NO photos! 17thThe Angels must have something against us for we have all been terribly ill. I have had a relapse of this rotten illness and the others managed to get food poisoning whilst they were away. Kitten cat is bored silly and relieving this by jumping all over us and we don't have the energy to grab her, wow! she is having the most wonderful time. Him Upstairs has chosen now to launch a new game of Bin Wars, dumping rubbish into the recycle bins and setting off merry hell with the bin men. The Authority answer is to number the bins. Ha ha. More scope for mischief and putting rubbish into wrong bins. Been there. Done that. It is all in their files, which I don't suppose they read, sigh. At least we do not have snow. Our friends in Virginia have had yet more dumped snow and are fair tuckered out with all the shovelling! 15thYes, the wonderful on and off connection syndrome struck again and I gave priority to getting the Valentines day quiz to my members out on the right day, by way of a nice change. Time is sort of flexible in Foxy Land, so to actually get things done on the right day is rather cool. I think. Everything else seems to have time warped too, with no telephone calls or post. Very strange since we probably receive a recycle bin of post a month. Kitten cat has gone absolutely beserk today too, shredding the sofa, trying to break into the fish tank (and this a Kitty who is absolutely terified of water!) and head butting my legs. Maybe Spring has prematurely sprung, I don't know, I just hope today was a one off or I shall be turing out the shin pads to wear in self defence. 13thWhat a day. The weather can not make up its mind what it is doing and neither can we. Every time a plan of action was decided upon another phone call or visitor distracted. Honey was going to cook the chicken but I have finally finished cooking it at half past ten in the evening, am home alone and we shall have it tomorrow. Sometime. With roast potatoes if anyone has remembered to buy the lard. This time. Tomorrow is also a sort of undefined day because we w Links to previous months January
