JULY 201028thWell a frantic day here helping with that web site and learning how to manipulate button codes, or not, as the frustrating case may be. Marjorydaw is on her way round too, so today has been a day of not much of my own bits and pieces getting done but one heck of a learning curve without a parchute. We did not receive any post today, which begs the question where the heck did it end up this time? We have been waiting for some SIM cards and it looks almost certain that they have been lost forever in the postal system. The skip which Kitten Cat found so very aggravating departed today and she has been looking out of the window with such a smug expression you would think she moved the thing with her own four paws. 27thAnother hot day and a loud but ineffective storm last evening. The air is still close enough to cut with a knife and things are unbearably stuffy. Thanks to the aspiring four footed Houdini the windows can only be locked on night light. The bad luck is apparently still pursuing us since the computer purchased by family does not work and has to go back to the company. The Courier was supposed to be here by 2pm and it is now nearly 3. I am hanging fire naming the company just in case they do come good, but they have so far not been very admirable. The computer arrived six days after the promised delivery date and only after multiple phone calls and now it is working fine, except there is a Motherboard problem and it will not connect a screen. Now, maybe I am difficult to please but I would have thought reading the screen would be pretty essential. Anyways, here I am stuck here waiting for Couriers and this evening I shall have no computer as the family will need to use this one. I have half an eye on Dickinson's Real Deal as I work here, and have entered the daily competition, as I do every day. I haven't won yet, but you do have to be in it to win it, don't you. I also scared the Postman half to death today when I outlined the postal difficulties which had pevailed all of last week. He is yet another relief postman but I have a feeling he will not be putting my post through the wrong box and yes, I was charm itself, honest. 26thAnother hot day and a storm hovering around but not actually breaking. As I suspected my Members are having great flights of fancy regarding the What has Foxy Lady Done Now contest. Let us say it is a good job I did not live in Pudding Lane in 1666 or I would have got the blame for that as well, giggle. I am refining all the sites at the moment so not a lot of other news, which is probably great for my nervous system, if it is bad for this blog! 25thWhat a day! No sooner do I launch a contest (please see home page) and start tidying up the blog files than I get news my cousin is seriously ill in hospital. That is a real downer and puts the blocks on. I have put all of 2009 blog into one folder and from August I shall have the blog running from the 1st onwards, because feed back tells me that people find the way I write the blog at the moment difficult to paruse. As ever, I listen, and if it is possible, I react! It is too far into July to do anything about it now, but from August you shall get your wish! Something is occurring outside. This I know because my little neighbourhood alert on the window sill is going ballistic! I can not hear very well so miss a lot but she misses nothing, bless her. It seems a number of cats have encroached into HER garden and even though she does not go out there she is not very happy about this. Her special black and white friend is not there. For some reason she tolerates this cat right up on the windowsill and almost nose to nose through the lock vent of the window! If the peace and quiet inside continues for about an hour longer I shall be putting this blog into monthly files as it should be! Then it will be time to raid the cupboards and make the evening meal, one of my very favourite parts of the day. ,/p> 24thAnother hot day and another rubbish connection day. I am losing the computer tomorrow because the screen is needed so that software can be loaded onto the new computer and both the "spare" screens are in fact kaput - NOW they tell me, after the things have been hauled every which way around the flat, tripped me up and fallen onto me at various times. It would have been nice had they worked but as it stands I am happy to wave bye bye to them on their merry way to the recycle point. I shall probably use the down time reading through all the Open University literature and making a final decision as to whether to do the Computer course or take the plunge and commence a full degree course. The first course actually does not make much impact upon my time because I have already covered a lot of the material which means there is less to actually cram, but it will be nice to know that I am doing things in the correct way and also to pick up some new tools to liven up pages. I received a free pink nail enamel in yesterday's post, it was one of those "1,000 freebies" offers and I am not often lucky. I was double lucky this time because the alternative colour was a deep purple which is not really best suited to my colouring. I am largely pottering with the sites tonight, tidying them up and adding a few new banners and items to let Members know I do do something from time to time, giggle. I wanted some more photos of Kitten Cat, but she has turned very temeramental, as do most top models, and vanished at the first sighting of the camera phone! 23rdFlippin eck what a day! It is eleven at night and I only just managed to get in here. The connection has been a badger and I reckon my body sent me to sleep in defence of my blood pressure. The Post has been up the creek all week, with several important documents going missing and we all know how long those take to track and get re-sent, don't we! I know where the post went today because I got someone else's and we exchanged post, but apparently this is the only day they have received my post. I think the Post Office know something because their help line (now there's an oxymoron if ever there was one!) very helpfully directed me to the web site because the lines were too busy to take calls. Which is OK if you have the internet AND a connection . . . The soaps were a streak of misery tonight, with the demise of one of my favourite characters, Shadrack Dingle, drowning in a stream trying to retrieve tins of beer when he was drunk. Sadly this is a real life occurrence which does happen, and it made the scenes more credible. Sooobbbbbbb! Of course there have been good bits, such as good weather, a deliquent Kitten Cat and a cheeky Little Lady who has again been yanking out my hair to use as nesting. I told her I was going to use her feathers for a wig and she tweaked out a really, really tiny feather and sort of shoved it towards me with her beak. Somehow I don't think she is very afraid of me at all . . . 22ndEverything has gone calm for a few hours. The computer arrived but the only screen which appears to be compatible with it is - mine! Typical case of "c'est la vie!" isn't it. Get another computer so you don't have to share and then you have to lose the screen so that the other computer can be used. A sense of humour certainly helps . . . Our neighbours have a huge skip and there has been an enormous amount of clattering and banging as items are deposited into it, which is no problem to me. After all I shall have my own skip in the near future so I shall not be rocking any boats. It is a HUGE issue to Kitten Cat, who seems to think we are under some sort of attack and has been alternately hissing at people she can see outside and hiding. We are in for a few weeks of this . . . So wish me luck! 21stThank goodness for a less fractious day! The temperature is still extremely hot but tempers have thankfully cooled somewhat. We are still chasing delivery of a computer which was supposed to be delivered first thing Monday morning and for which I have had to rise from my pit at an unearthly hour each day just in case it arrives. Apparently the same courier was here today with a delivery for Web Pages Dust Bunny but because they have mucked up the order they now have the goods about thirty miles away. I am therefore still on Red Alert, waiting for the pesky parcel. All I can say is that it had better arrive today and it had better be in full working order or I shall be naming names. It goes without saying that we shall not be ordering from that company again, but since it could be a blip it would not be fair to turn others from the company. One of the lounge units was supposed to be dismantled and packed today but "somebody" forgot to get the boxes but since there is a lot of kerfuffle going on around me today anyways I am not to concerned about this lack of boxes. My button collection has been located and when I am unable to get onto the computer I am sorting through those, which is very good physiotherapy for my hands and much more interesting than taking beads and placing them from on tub to another or pulling at elastic bands, giggle. 20thA hot piggy hogger of a day when nobody is speaking to anybody and Kitten Cat has vanished. I am not sure where she has disappeared to but she will surely materialise when the smell of roasting chicken tickles her nostrils. The telephone is expired so I am going to have to spend some of my precious cache of argos vouchers and get a new phone pronto. If you would like to answer surveys and earn points which can be converted into many gifts, including store vouchers please drop me an email at info@foxyladynews.co.uk and I shall send you details by return email. This firm is only available to UK and Northern Ireland domiciles. The mail arived very late in the day and had been opened by persons unknown, presumably because it had been delivered to the wrong address. I really HATE it when our regular postman is on holiday. I suppose we have a couple of weeks of this now, and it is not an inspiring prospect. The switch to the multi point has been accidentally switched off (ie computer crashed) twice by Chaos - don-t ask!, once by Kitten Cat and once because there was a power surge. The computer discs were not put where they were supposed to be and we need some of them so we are ringing round trying to find someone who has a disc we can borrow - when the phone condescends to work. I could expand further but I am sure you have got the picture. Some days you really are the tree . . . 19thA full day today and the body won't do as it is told, but then when does it. Only one cup was broken during washing up and Kitten Cat has had her breakfast so all is well with the world, I suppose. I am home alone at the moment but expect a stampede of visitors this afternoon, which will wake me up if nothing else. There are a couple of people wanting exchange links so I shall try to get those on today so that there is something different for yout o browse. 18thA return to sunny weather and my family are home safe and well from their Spanish holiday. They have had a lovely and relaxing time and my Brother is in most jovial mood, so obviously it did him the power of good. Once again the connection has been every kind of farmyard animal and a few more not evolved yet but at last it is whizzing. I am sure my blood pressure would be normal if the wretched thing would behave! I have not really got any site news yet because in spite of having been online for the best part of ten hours I haven't really managed to do much at all, so maybe tomorrow there will be tiding . . . See you tomorrow . . . 17thWe are back to universally slow connection and this time everyone in the area seems to be complaining so therefore all the upheaval and aggravation of the upgrade is rather wasted at this point in time. However, we must move onwards and upwards and I have enough time between the pages loading to sort out a few more items and generally tidy round so I suppose nothing is bad news. Really. If you work very, very, very hard at seeing it that way. Oh, all right then, I am flippin furious! You will notice that I had to reset the home page visitor counter. The friends who are making their own web site were going to buy expensive software and I showed them that the software is available in the cpanel. I think somebody may have meddled with it when I went to the bathroom, grrrrrr. There had been just over 10,000 (yes, that many! I am quite excited by that) visitors so I reset it to 10,000 and in future I think I shall let people go ahead and buy expensive software, evil grins. I am waiting on my groceries at the moment and then I am going to treat myself to a very decadent lunch at tea time, if you see what I mean. We expect lots of company over the weekend because although I am not well enough to trot down to the Festival a lot of friends and relatives are going there and will call in for free tea on the way home. Maybe I should open a small cafe, my fare is certainly very popular, giggle. 16thWell, I had work done to speed up the computer and wouldn't you know, it effectively stopped me getting on line for two whole days and I am not HP. To add insult to injury I am no longer an Administrator on my own computer and have not been able to download toolbars etc which I need. Moreover Firefox, my favourite browser is not supposed to be compatible with other software and that was removed and of course I can't download it again anyway because I am not allowed to, on my own machine! I know one should be grateful when someone tidies up the machine and there was a lot of Registry work and it was all free but I don't know whether to strangle the person who shut me out of Administrator or myself because I might have guessed something would go awry! All that moaning aside, it is reassuring to know for 100% sure there is nothing lurking on the machine and the Registry is squeaky. Kitten Cat has a new friend, a huge white and black cat who is crooning through the night latch of the window. Fortunately the window is locked open only a small distance, so neither can get a paw in or out and I am grateful that I am so worried Kitten Cat will go out and get knocked down that I never have the window open because the behaviour of the other cat is all too familiar and although I love my cat I do not want a second one just at the moment. Naturally Kitten Cat does not agree and is learning to yowl, oh joy! I have been to see the doctor and at present there is nothing more they can do so I am looking into iodine rich foods to see if I can kick start the thyroid again and get rid of up to four stones of ugly and throttling fluid. I kid you not, I look like a flippin warlrus and no, there will be no photos! Weather wise we are back in winter, and since the children break up for six whole weeks of holiday this is a natural occurrence. The sun will be back when they all go back to school and can not be taken out for holidays! If you are in the Dartford Area, it is festival week end. Click here to see details This is always a tip top event and you will not be disappointed. Huh, just when I am getting all excited about a truly great local event I get some idiot shining a torch at the computer screen so I have had to close the blinds and shut out what for me is the best part of the day. Some people like the dawn, I like dusk. I love the way that the light changes make objects appear to come closer and become sharper before melting back and into the darkness. I have an oil painting depicting trees and a waterfall and this painting has the very same effect, although I did not know about this visual bonus when I bought it. Tonight we have had to go straight to night time, sigh. Apart from the impromptu light show everything is calm on the Western front and I am looking forward to playing catch up whilst the peace lasts. Remember, if you are in the Dartford Area please do look in on the Festival - have some fun, you are worth it! 13thWell, my transport did arrive and since the service started late all would have been well if the Sat Nav had not kept directing us to the wrong gates - no entry there, grrrrr. By the time we got there the service had started and no way was I going to cause a kerfuffle by going in late so I had no option but to sit with the floral tributes and wait for my family to come out. My Aunt had a terrific display of floral tributes, they were very beautiful, and there was a small fountain by the wall where I sat so I was able to contemplate my Aunt while I waited and it was very peaceful. I am sure she knew I was there. My Cousins were pleased I had made the effort and that was all that mattered to them, so all was well there, and I hooked up with two friends and two other Cousins and we are all getting together soon so there was a positive outcome to the day. Chaos amused himself by picking out family members and reckons there is no way I could deny membership of the Clan, we definitely look alike. He reckons old age has no fears for me since we age gracefully, very kind of him, I am sure. I was too exhausted to be able to continue on to the Wake but I had done the most important thing and everyone is happy, so a good day. Today the temperature has dropped by about twenty degrees and although in reality it is still quite warm it feels wonderfully cool. The downside is that Kitten Cat is AWAKE!!!! She has pent up energy from half a dozen days of sleeping so is leaping around like a demented grasshopper. Sadly, she is much heavier than a grasshopper so when she uses me as a tramoline it really hurts now. Very funny for others to watch though! I am helping a friend with a web site and they are using a template which is good in some ways but bad in others. I prefer to start from scratch so that I understand the steps taken to make the site. It is good experience though. So all in all exhausted but busy, the best way to ge through a day! 12thAt last the weather has cooled and everyone is rather happy about that although the goldfish are banging the tank because they enjoyed playing with the ice cubes and want some more! We lost the internet and telephone connection for several hours yesterday and I understand this was a wide spread problem so either they were working on the exchange or the solar eclipses which have been occurring mucked something up. At least, touch wood, things are running fast and smooth at the moment. That is more than I can say for my transport which is stuck at a hospital about thirty miles away from here, and at the moment it looks as if I shall miss the service for my Aunt since there is no time to arrange alternative transport. 11thQuite an upheaval today moving the washing machine and cooker so that the oil can be cleaned up by my helper but what a bonus, finally my kitchen scissors have come to light! These are so helpful, particularly when the so called easy open cartons fail to cooperate. Apparently the heat wave is due to end shortly and I can not wait, maybe my brain cells will activate, because at the moment thinking is very difficult. However, tomorrow downpours are forecast and I shall be attending the Service for my Aunt so hopefully the weather will be kind and we will not be seeing her on her final Journey in the pouring rain. If you live in the UK and you would like to earn a little cash writing reviews please click here to mail me at info@foxyladynews.co.uk and I will send you details of the site I use, which does pay. 10thWe are boiling hot here and kitten cat is spark out. I am putting ice cubes into the goldfish tank every hour or so and they are really enjoying those. Jaws has actually been charging around like an orange dolphin throwing them around the tank! Not to be outdone Nemo has destroyed his pump yet again and that has to be reassembled. IMPORTANT little tip here. Last night I had a near disaster of the frightening kind when the fat in the fryer did a Vesuvius impression and I was lucky not to end up with scalded feet as the oil spread everywhere very rapidly. Apparently in the hot weather you have to set the thermostat to about half what you normally have it set. I learned the scary way, please do learn from my mistake. I have the mother of all messes to clean up now too. I have cleaned the bits I can get to but later in the day when things are cooler the washing machine has to be pulled out from the wall and cleaned and everything around and behind it has to be cleaned. All that before I can use it and actually do some laundry!
Moneywise I have been paid again by a cute little site Kits-n-Katsptc.info You might like to give that one a whirl. The WebMaster, Michael, is very responsive and he thinks up new little games on a regular basis. Fun and cash all in one, in fact. 9thAnother hot day and at last there have been health warnings issued. Since I have had trouble with my breathing from Day 1 of this heatwave it is probably a little late to start asking people to keep an eye on their family and neighbours, but better late than never. I have cut back a lot of any activity which will make me even more tired which means chores are banking up, but you can usually bet on some foul weather when the children start their summer vacation from school, so there will be time for all the chores later in the year. I wrote a review today and wouldn't you know it the review site went down and I do not know whether the review was saved or not. So I shall have to return later to check that it did get saved and it did go live. If you live in the UK and you would like to earn a little cash writing reviews please click here to mail me at info@foxyladynews.co.uk and I will send you details of the site I use, which does pay. I have just had an unscheduled sleep whilst typing this, the hot weather is really getting to me. I did manage to wake up in time to catch the contest on Dickinson's Real Deal. The programme has had a progressive prize all week and today gave away the most it has even given in a single prize - £12,000. I would love to be able to post that I won that, but since I enter virtually every day without winning I am pretty sure I shall not be The One. The phone entry for television quizzes is a horrendously high cost but most of them offer free entry on line, so it is worth checking it out - after all, somebody has to win, and it could be you! 8thWell, here is another of my little "Ways to get kicked out of Foxy Land" rants which appear sporadically. If I spend all morning putting cleaning and putting everything in its place now that I have finally gotten rid of the ants, it is a highly risky strategy to go straight out there and rearrange everything to your convenience, especially if you are nearly six feet tall as opposed to my four feet eleven. I am currently retaliating but replying that I can not reach the cups/plates etc every time I am asked for a cuppa or such, and predict that very shortly items will once more be within my reach. Heavens sometimes I am so baaaaaaad, giggle. I had the more sombre task of selecting flowers for the forthcoming cremation service on Monday, and since my Brother is in Spain I am sole representative of this branch of the family. I finally settled on a really pretty pink teardrop spray of carnations. On the up side I found that bunches of flowers are very reasonably priced at the moment and I may be resuming my former habit of treating myself to flowers every fortnight. Next year hopefully I shall be able to grow my own, but meanwhile I do love the fragrance of wallflowers, sweet william, carnation, rose, sweet pea and freesia! 7thWell we have the stuff that makes the grass grow at the rate of a foot a day - yup, rain! However, I bet the trees are glad of it after this dry spell. Later today I am off to look round an auction house which will be quite fun. Apparently it has always been there, I have lived here all my life, and I did not know about it until I found it on the internet. It is the first time I have been out for a couple of weeks so that will be really good. All the sites are running very well now, thank goodness and it is full speed ahead to the next phase. 6thWell today is the day the holes get sealed and hopefully I wave bye bye to my unwanted insect lodgers. Bliss! I got an interesting brochure today from a firm which specialises in shelving for awkward places, the only down side being that it is all in pine and I wanted to have a darker, oak type, colour, but I suppose it could be stained. There is a small wood sample and it smells divine! I can not plan too far because I do not know the dimensions of the New Home, or indeed where the New Home is, but I can get a general idea of outlay and prioritise shelving so that things really are in their place and the New Home is a completely box free zone! 5thApparently the heatwave is coming to an end and more comfortable temperatures will soon be here and I am quite pleased about that because my arm has done its going on strike act again and when there are lots of dead ants everywhere really I need both hands to clean the surfaces more or less constantly. I shall have to replace the wall can opener too because that is something else I can't do at the moment and cracking an egg is also a very messy procedure much loved by kitten cat if some of the egg lands on the floor. Thank you to those of you who have joined sites suggested by me. It really cheers me up! Things are tranquil here at the moment but I understand that the ant entry holes will be filled this week and the kitchen re-papered. Oh joy. I think . . . Reminds me of the song "When Father papered the parlour, you couldn't see parlour for paint!" 4th of JulyHappy 4th of July to everyone and in particular to American people wheresoever they may be on this very special day. I think a lot of people must have watched the tennis via the internet because the connection here has been absolute rubbish all day but as soon as Wimbledon tournament had finished zippety doo dah! We are now cooking with gas. I am going to race and try to get everything done which should have been done all day, but in three hours or so. I still have my pesky insect friends here too, they are in no hurry to clear off, sigh. On the positive side several readers have joined me at Alert Pay, so thank you so much for that - it really gives me a boost! 3rdWell, it seems a lot of people in this area have an ant problem and we were late getting it because all the shops have sold out of Nippon! I am reduced to squishing the varmints until someone comes to plug up the holes and Kitten Cat is run ragged chasing down strays. It is too hot to potter much so I shall be enjoying Wimbledon and working on the sites. I have found an interesting new type of advertisement and when I finally figure out how to set it up that will make the site more interesting. Whilst I love company and would not like to be alone full time I have to say that the peace here today is absolute bliss! 2ndNot a good day today. The Gremlins have struck big time. I awoke to find that I have a stampede of little feet in the kitchen. The "lovely" people who worked on the gas meter left a hole and now I have thousands of darned ants in the kitchen. I detest the things since I am allergic to their bites. I have sent out for some filler and Nippon and will prevail upon somebody to fill the hole and meanwhile bleach, flea spray, pepper and white vinegar have all failed to put a stop to the forward march of the little blighters. I don't really like wholesale destruction of things but there is nothing to be done unless I want a large scale infestation of the wretched things. Not a good time, then, to discover that somebody has removed all of my scourer/sponges from the kitchen. I vaguely remember the cry yesterday about missing car wash sponges and reminded them "oh yeah, that would be because you thought it was fun to play tug of war with the dog up the road and let him run off with the sponges!" I thought nothing of it until today when I find I have not a sponge left! Kitten Cat thinks the whole thing great fun chasing ants because she loves hunting in any case and she is the only one who is happy about the situation. When did you ever have more fun that this! White Rabbits!Well, we are into the second half of the year, a good time to look over those dusty old new year resolutions and have another crack at them, maybe. I have kept at mine through the year so far with about 60% success which is better than 0%, I suppose. We still have a heat wave but it is not much good to holiday makers since the children are still at school. Get ready for deluges in August! JUNE 201030thWell the last day of Flaming June and the last day of the first half of the year. Hasn't time flown! We will be dusting down the Christmas decs soon. Although TV is ahead of us. Would you believe there is a season of "Christmas in July" films? Now I know why there was nothing worth watching on at Christmas. They were saving it for mid summer. Stroll on! I am eagerly awaiting the Murray match on Wimbledon and clicking like a maniac so that I shall have the time to enjoy the game. > Members of Cash4Emails.com will be pleased to know that at last I am able to get into the wretched admin panel and send out all your lovely advertising. I wish I could catch and bottle Gremlins and hire them out, I would be worth a mint. So that is me busy for the next couple of hours, watching tennis and sending out mails on Cash4Emails! 29thIt has been absolute bedlam here today. Car Mechanic Dust Bunny was here and Chaos helpfully removed the lid of Nemo's tank so that I could carry out his part water change more easily and the little so and so soaked me just as the local Constabulary came round as part of Neighbourhood Watch. Well they saw something different, didn't they! Once the Constabulary had left we played another round of let's move the furniture round and try to make the room bigger, which made me a nervous wreck trying to dodge being flattened by things, and made the boys all hot and bothered and in need of frequent cups of tea. Personally I think the new arrangement makes the room look a lot smaller, but who am I to judge, I only live here . . . If you would like a list of paying survey sites, or if you would like to receive a newsletter from me please do click here to mail me at info@foxyladynews.co.uk and I will send you this. 28thWe lost Zaggy, as I expected. It is very sad but it seems to have been a swim bladder thing as opposed to infection and the other two fish are healthy and normal looking in their tank. It is like the Marie Celeste around here, I think I am the only one at home in half the street. Luvverly. If you would like a list of paying survey sites, or if you would like to receive a newsletter from me please do click here to mail me at info@foxyladynews.co.uk and I will send you this. 27th
Nemo was named by the neice and nephew so I got in quick with the pair of comets and named them Troilus and Cressida, much to the disgust of just about everyone, but sadly Cressida only lasted a couple of weeks. Troilus has keeled over a couple of time but revived after a period of time in the bath. The next additions were a pair of shubunkins and Chaos got in first, naming them Ziggy and Zaggy on the way home. Ziggy lasted about a year but Zaggy was going strong until today. The water is being kept cool during the hot days so we are at a loss to know why Zaggy is ill. We have had visitors all day so it has been really stressful trying to deal with Zaggy and keep Kitten Cat, who is almost mad with curiousity, out of the bathroom. Little Lady has been fascinated by all the activity in the bath, and seems to have rather enjoyed the break in routine. England are out of the Tournament but we still have to suffer wall to wall football until it ends. Yes, Web Pages Dust Bunny I am keeping out of your way, I know you will be not HP. Neither will my Brother and his family. It doesn't help that I tipped Germany to win the whole shebang because I was pushed to pick somebody, so I am keeping a low, low profile . . . 26thWe have another very hot day and Kitten Cat is doing her dead cat draped over sofa and hogging the cool air act. She is so convincing I may hire her out as a body for screen work! You will notice just above, in the pink box, I have details of a very good money making site and I find this one very easy earnings. They previously paid by cheque and due to the exorbitant bank charges I used to build my earnings very steeply just to get some cash back. All that has now ended. They pay using Alert pay! Wow! Money, money, money . . ." The kids are at the coast today and it is very pleasant sitting here writing to you and watching Wimbledon. The only downer is that the local ferals have stepped up a gear and are robbing sheds, targetting mini motorcycles and the like, causing misery to those who have saved their hard earned pennies for these items. I am getting pretty tired of the England ole song too, but at least that is cheerful and high spirited and let's face it we don't hear jubilation often enough, do we? 25thWell, wouldn't you know, there is a problem on Cash4Emails, it will not let me into the admin so I have had to get Support to tackle that one for me. All the other sites are up and running and once I have caught up with all the correspondence from them I shall start to add some bits and pieces here which I have stored up whilst I have been off line. The new modem works a treat most of the time so that is a welcome improvement. I have been doing three falls, a submission or a knock out today with Kitten Cat for access to the stream of cold air from the cooler. She very much approves of this gadget and if it is not positoned just so she head buts her way into me so that I move along the sofa, the little tinker. Whilst I was offline I caught up with lots of boring old chores and found lots of things that I had lost so hopefully I shall be able to catch up with things very quickly now. There are some new links in the pipeline which I hope will be of interest and use to you so please do be sure to call back soon. 24thWoohoo. After an unscheduled holiday I am back with a vroom! Over the next few days I will fill you in on what has been occurring here but right now I have to let all my six sites know I have not run away. We are in the middle of a heat wave here and Kitten Cat is hogging the air cooler, no surprises there! I am enjoying watching Wimbledon, no surprises there either. Big surprises for the members of my other sites because they are going to get mails today! Wooohooooo! MAY 201016thThe weather here continues to be mid winter and since we have another Bank Holiday next weekend I suppose we should not be surprised if snow were to make an apparance. Airports are closed due to the volcanic ash situation and the UK has a mish mash Government so here we go and buckle your seatbelts cos it is going to be a rocky old ride. Site wise I have been revamping the ads on Foxden and am about halfway through this. I am going to be offering a cracking deal for ads across all sites AND on the home page here, so do keep an eye out for that. On the home front I have been doing my own version of "Cash in the Attic" although of course there is no attic in a ground floor flat. Although I have not found the elusive Faberge egg sought by all bargain hunters I have found a few bits and pieces I am happy to let go and I shall box them up to see if an Auction House can indeed sell them. They have to be moved this week, before they get mixed up with the stuff to go with me, giggle. It has been quite a trip down memory lane for me this weekend and I have unearthed some family photos which have not been seen for many a year. At some stage I shall get them copied on to the site, so that is something to keep an eye out for, probably in the autumn. 14thWe have a mixed day now, half freezing and half frying, so, as my American friends say, "Go figure"! Kitten Cat can sun bathe so that is all she worries about. I have been invited to party at the weekend by someone who obviously has lost the plot. If there is a party it will be HERE and it will be a finishing the packing party ahead of the meeting next week, giggle. TV is out of kilter too, I have "Diagnosis Murder" on the tv and it is Christmas Eve, would you believe. I wish they would put the Christmas issues on over the Christmas because they are so much more enjoyable then. We are waiting for Car Mechanic Doggie to return from the second round with the Vet but it seems that all did go well, which is good because it is also the birthday of Car Mechanic Dust Bunny today. 13thWe continue to experience mid winter in May but we have a New Toy aka sandwich maker with which to while away the time. I have to admit that it does produce very tasty sandwiches and here is a health warning - the fillings are EXTREMELY hot. If you have youngsters on very elderly family members I would cut the things in half to ensure the middle cools as fast as the outside. We have tried cheese and bacon, which although tasty was much too rich, and cheese and tomato which was out of this world. I am wondering whether jam sandwiches will turn out as nicely. Since Kitten Cat has no interest in sandwiches this is all a big yawn and not half as much fun as pizzas but you can't please everyone all of the time, can you, giggle. 12thWe are back in mid winter here with storms and really cold weather but I got a nice surprise when I took the rubbish out to the bin in that I was able to sit on the wall and sunbathe for a while, out of the wind, and very nice it was too! Stormy weather has returned and it is very gloomy in here but Kitten Cat has found another cardboard box so at least someone is happy. However, we are comparatively lucky because several of my friends who live in the USA have tornadoes today and those are most definitely not fun. I am not sure what the gas company are trying to achieve, but they did not turn up to do the inspection today, which is surprising and annoying because I had not replaced the cleaning materials etc in the under sink cupboard because they always want to access there and now I am hanging for another date. Bet most of you reading are thinking "been there, done that . . ." My telephone records probably prove I have been here all day anyways, trying to get through to book eye and blood test appointments. Lord, I have to cut down on the fun I have! I am currently locking horns with a shop building site and trying to get my photos to shop up on the site. Ever since I began building web sites I have had what my Niece calls "issues" with images. When she has finished laughing she helps me out, but she does have to have a couple of days of laughs first, the little Darling. BSc in Computer Studies darling actually so it is worth waiting for the help. I have been informed that the MOT on the car is due. Great. More expense and all hands to the pump getting any required work done and everybody abandon Project Foxy Lady Relocation, sigh. 11thOur mini summer seems to be well and truly over and we are back to grey skies, chilly chilly temperatures and drizzle. It will almost certainly be necessary to use the heating tonight. In May, sigh. I am going to tackle the software for the online shop today, which should be fun. At least it will give the grey cells a work out. Things here are boring for you readers at the moment because it is all work, work, background work but I am sure the next calamity can only be around the corner. 10thWell it is all go here trying to pack and also keep up to date with paperwork and on line matters. Just to be really unhelpful the weather has gone into downpour mode, making up to date laundry impossible. Also I keep losing Kitten Cat since there are so many boxes to choose from. We have frequent sorties outside calling her and then when we are getting really desperate and considering trailing round looking for her she falls, still half asleep, out of her latest hidey hole. Getting boring, I know, but nothing to report really. Just sloggedy slog. This being Foxy Land I am sure the next catastrophe is just around the corner just waiting to come into your greater reading pleasure, so give it time . . . 9thStill all go here and difficult to get to the machine so that I can get on line but everyone else goes back to work on Monday so things should calm down a little. There are not many hours left until the offer for lifetime upgrades expires, so if you are interested, now is definitely the time to upgrade. 7thWell voting may be over in the United Kingdom but the count goes on and so do the arguments, so very much business as usual. The Boys and Gals in charge are going to have to stop wasting time in silly character assassinations and start to work together to bring the country fully out of recession, which should be interesting. I am still battling to get my body to accept thyroxine so that I can get some zip into my engines and to be honest it is absolutely exhausting - I am hauling around about three extra stones in fluid now and fun it ain't. There have again been connectivity problems and the only thing that can apparently be blamed in the quality of the telephone line. I do hope that the area I relocate to has cable, I really do, then I can kiss BT goodbye forever. Car Mechanic Dust Bunny's doggie undergoes surgery this afternoon but we are pretty certain the outcome will be just fine. Another little thing taking up time but nobody minds because living creatures come before machines, every time. 4thYup, offline for four whole days and nobody has had much fun here preparing for the Big Heater Change. Except it isn't going ahead now. Due to an exceptional problem with water supplies, anomolies and generally wrongly plumbed stuff the whole hot and cold water systems have to be re routed and a separate supply between this flat and the one above secured. What this means in real terms is that EVERYTHING including tropical fish has to be removed from the flat in order to enable the work to be undertaken. I turned such a funny shade of grey whilst this was being explained that the Contractor could not get out of here quickly enough in case I pegged out on him. So we have three options, go ahead regardless, go ahead when my doctor says I am well enough, or move. Ever been going round in ever decreasing circles? Little Lady is currently with Web Pages Dust Bunny because she was going to be day boarding there, and I have had great fun observing the antics of Kitten Cat who has had the run of the entire flat seeking said bird, obviously with no success. Do I have one baffled cat here! No box or open cupboard or drawer has gone without thorough inspection and she is now fair tuckered out cold and snoring on the carpet. I am still locked out of cash4emails and I have over 10,000 mails, so isn't being off line fun, not. You have got to have had more fun over the May Day holiday! APRIL 201030thWell, a spectacular fall yesterday but would probably have looked very funny on film. I had just sorted out the litter box and was putting the litter bag back when Kitten Cat decided to leap from the window sill and sort of curve round from across the room and into her litter box, just like a cartoon cat. Unfortunately the body of moi was in the middle of this route and she flattened me, I hurt several bones, hit my head, may have actually cracked my ribs and was covered in (thankfully clean!) litter. Now, I know she likes the litter box when it has just been refreshed but that is taking things to extremes. She had the cheek to trot over me rather than round me when she came out of the box too. At times she is one aggravating cat. I wouldn't mind so much but I had got her a treat, a free sample of Purina One, and she loved it. So add ungrateful to the list of character traits! Marjorydaw cme round yesterday evening and we sorted some boxes out to be stored in the cupboard and spent more time than we should trying to plan how I am going to set out the rooms when the work has been done as opposed to actually getting the rooms ready. Girl Talk as opposed to Girl Power, but we had a lovely time anyways. My doctor has telephoned because this set of bloods were even worse than the last set so the medication has to be adjusted and we have another unscheduled visit to pick up the meds BUT we are lucky to live in a country where it is that simple. Imagine if the meds were not available or too expensive to buy. For some people that is a reality, so it may be inconvenient to go and get the meds but as I say I am very, very lucky. Not so lucky is the fact that the exhaust fell off the car today so that is another thing which has to be done at the same time as preparing for the demon boiler men. Seems to be our week for unscheduled happenings because Car Mechanic Dust Bunny is very worried about his dog so we have to take Doggie to be checked over today too. All go, isn't it. Those of you who read regularly will spot a pattern here. Yes, I did sign up for shopping cart software and I need to learn to use it and get the shop up. Which requires concentration. Peace. Tranquility. . . 28thWell Thunderbirds are definitely Go here and I have the most thumping headache. Little Lady will be day boarded out to Web Pages Dust Bunny for the duration of the works on the flat, and many thanks to him too. Those living in the South East may take this as an advance warning of storms and foul weather for not only is next week started by a Bank Holiday but also Chaos thinks he is going to work on the garden whilst the flat is more or less out of bounds. Taking Kitten Cat, who is usually a flat cat and who hates wateer, outside with him. Couldn't expect better results if you paid a Rain Maker, could you, sigh. On the plus side Chaos has unearthed a suprise which he bought for me, more than two years ago. BEAUTIFUL cream canvas cafe styled blinds for the bathroom! They are gilly gorgeous! I still do not intend staying here any longer than i have to but the bathroom will be like something out of Changing Rooms! As to progress here, well, as you know, I favour calm and Chaos favours, well, as the name suggests, absolute Bedlam and we surely have that today by the bucket full! 27thA busy day today, picking up a computer for car mechanic dust bunny a microwave for web pages dust bunny so we have two happy bunnies now, giggle. The chalets were finally wound up this week and are no more, and I am sad about that, but it does close down the focus for the family and that is one less thing to help out with. Timing could have been better in that I need all hands to the pump here to prepare for next weeks' repair works, but there you go. This year looks to be the year of tying up loose ends and we plan a return to the Coast next year although I have negotiated a few day trips to get my fix of the North Sea. 26thAnother day, another flood. Yup, I gave the goldfish a water change aided and abetted by Kitten Cat! I never learn and neither does she but the fish are very happy. Nemo is banging the tank with his log but it is his turn tomorrow, once the water has aged and warmed. Today is the seventh anniversary of my Mother's passing and it still seems like yesterday so this time of year is always difficult. Thank heaven for Chaos who decided today was the day that the vegetable rack could be picked up. It is a five tiered chrome thing which has to be self assembled and it took me about five hours because there are lots of silly little nut things which have to secure the rods and I kept dropping them and Kitten Cat kept playing football with them. Finally the thing is together and she has a new game - bop the vegetable out of the tray! I give up. What price a tidy kitchen? 25thA bit of progress today in that dead car is ready for removal and at last that job is done! Thought it would never, ever go! I am not sure if it is shock but I am sicker than ever today. Everyone else wants the fans on and I am shivering in jackets! I think I have finally chosen the shopping cart software, and if I am as good with this as I am with cash crusader scripts that is going to be great fun for the Foxies but much hair tearing and carpet chewing for me. There is a huge pot of stew simmering away because Web Pages Dust Bunny has now suffered the demise of both cooker and microwave so I am on cook rota today. There have also been wall to wall guests so an exhausting day before the computer was even switched on. Then again, we are heading for summer so I suppose it is time to go up a gear. I miss the Island but hopefully in about two years we shall have another coastal foray and the holiday season rhythm will click in once more. 24thWe have the most beautiful day here, blue skies, warm and no biting wind. Kitten Cat is sunning herself on the window sill and we have peace, perfect peace. If you live in the UK and want the link to the site from which you can complete surveys in exchange for your favourite store vouchers (I collect Argos vouchers!) please click here to email me and request details. The photos for the car parts on the carpartmart are being re-taken this week and hopefully whoever does take them will have the knack because the last lot were just not able to be used or resized. I have just told them to get on with it because when the work on the boiler starts they will have to wait another three weeks before they have a chance of getting anything done here. One week for the work and two weeks for me to recover, no kidding. You know I typed "peace, perfect peace" three paragraphs ago? Well, I AM GRATEFUL but Web Pages Dust Bunny has just hopped out to mow the lawns so peaceful it ain't no longer . . . 23rdHappy St George's Day to One and All Thank you for all the nice cards and messages in honour of my birthday. I can confirm that I had a quiet but happy time and yes, I did manage to squeeze in my favourite sin food, a Macdonalds Fillet! Kitten cat had a little of the ice cream from the desert so she was licking her chops for most of the evening also. Chaos has severely upset the four legged fiend though. He has taped down the carpet because she has suddenly started to pull up the carpet to see what is underneath. Is she cross!!!! She will not even look at Chaos, never mind respond when he calls her, giggle. There is more disruption in the pipeline for here. You will see from the notice on the Home Page that from 4th-8th May work is being caried out on the boiler and radiators and at times there will be no electricity or water, so that is not going to be a fun week. You may know that I had hoped to have relocated by now but it has not been possible because al the adaptations I need and available accommodation so it seems as if I have to buckle down to get a server etc and stay here for the foreseeable future. Maybe giving up on moving will make it finally happen, the way Lady Luck moves, but we shall see. 22ndYou will not be hearing much from me today because it is my 53rd birthday and I am not happy about this since I feel life has sneakd up and altered my birth certficate because I am sure I am 29. Really. I am getting lots of nice surprise visitors and some nice gifts and generally making a bit of a piggy of myself on cake etc. This IS the life . . . 21stAt last this thing is running faaasssst! About time too. I had to uninstal and reinstal Mozilla but wow! it is just so wonderful to be zipping along today. Much less stressful too. We have not been receiving much post and apparently this may be due to the lack of planes because mail is sent by air within the UK so I suppose I had better get the floor strengthened for the mass which will flump onto it at the weekend. poor Postman! 20thAnother good day and I won a whole ten cents forecasting regarding the new Grandson of the WM of ConfusedCash. Congratulations to Deb on her highly desired status of Grandma! She has been waiting so long for this and little Gabriel Joseph has now arrived, perfect in every way. He managed to avoid sharing a birthday with me but his birth weight was almost the same as mine, all those years ago, and I won the ten cents! Today is the birthday of my schoolfriend Lorraine. We lost contact years ago, but when we were teenagers we always shared a birthday because we were two days apart and therefore had a joint celebration on the in between day. I always think of her on 20th April and wonder where she is now. I shall raise a glass to her anyways. Connection wise we have had a bad day here and had to uninstall Mozilla, which is a shame as I much prefer this browswer. However, when the time marches on to 9pm and you have done nothing drastic measures are called for, sigh. Just to round off the day I have nearly broken my neck falling in the hall - Kitten Cat has taken full advantage of my preoccupation with browsers and connectivity and has hauled up the entire hall carpet to see what is under there. I said it before and I say it again. The people who say that pets lower stress levels have never met my critters! 19thWe still have summer! It will not last because it will soon be time for the Wimbledon tennis tournament and we all know that this eent rivals St Swithin in its rain making potential. I have had a few visitors over the weekend and my new air freshener has caused great entertainment, the visitors copying the advertisement for this product and repeatedly moving around near it in order to set it off. How to keep visitors entertained at very low cost! The device is switched off at night in case Kitten Cat investigates and sets off a puff of fragrance into her face. Since the air freshener is placed next to the plant she is not supposed to eat the only time she ventures up on top of the piano is when I am safely out of the way and fast asleep, so the day time risk is minimal. Another £10 of Argos vouchers arrived in the post today. If you live int he UK and would like to complete surveys to gain some vouchers please do drop me a mail (click here) and I will send you the link. 18th We are basking in sunshine today after a night which was absolutely freezing so it is a bit like the Sahara at the moment. I should haved liked to go out but the weather is making everyone too sleepy, sigh. When we bought the shopping we bought some bleach which has an allegedly child proof top, which is fine but it is also me-proof so I need assistance just to open the thing so that I can carry out the weekly sink blach dosing. Is there anyone out there who can devise a child proof top which can be opened by people with weak grip? It would be interesting to know. After a frustrating week when very little has got done online due to the connectivity being a rat-pig, things are flying today, which is a huge relief. If this keeps up we may even get a few things onto the shop page - wow! 17thFinally this thing is whizzing along and I can catch up with all the sites. Some comedian has made me a lot of extra work by sending more than 600,000 (yes, that many) spam mails to one of the sites so I have had to change the email address there, just one more helpful way to waste the time of a web mistress, sigh. I have been out shopping and today is a beautiful sunny day. It was a real pleasure to be out and I did not really want to come home. I snapped up another half price air freshening gadget, this time one of those which automatically send out a puff of fragrance when they sense movement. So that is every room covered now and I must curb my fragrance addiction. I am going to update the picturs on the sites to reflect the oncoming summer season, and try to think up a competition to make up for the lost opportunity during Easter when there were server problems, so it is all go today! 15thWe have spent most of the last four days evicting a trojan which seems to love this computer and then good old Chaos downloaded some software for the camera phone and let the thing back in again . . . Harsh words were spoken . . . I am still pretty rough because I am not absorbing the Thyroxine and it does not help that Kitten Cat chose to sleep right across my throat last evening. I thought I was having an asthma attack but I was spluttering on cat hairs and was she mad about being disturbed! As some of you know, I regularly scare myself to death watching, not horror films, but programmes explaining earthquakes, flooding, tornadoes etc and of course, volcanoes . . . My friends think I am a silly billy but the curent situation whereby all flights are totally banned due to a cloud of volcanic ash has got them thinking! I am just glad that there is nobody in the immediate vicinity of the volcano and the progress of the eruption surely makes much more enthralling viewing than the coverage of the election (non) compaigns currently in progress, giggle. 11thWe have had a right palava here today. We lost Kitten Cat and could hear this frantic banging, so assumed she was trapped behind the wardrobe. She has become a little more rounder in the tummy and maybe she had just got that little bit too sleek to get into and out of her hidey hole. Anyways, after three rounds, a fall and a submission with the wardrobe we could still hear all this banging and see no cat. Eventually we tumbled that the banging was coming from outside the flat. She must have sneaked out! She had been frantically banging the door with her paws to get back in and I now have a heavy lump on my lap because she refuses to let me out of her sight, poor thing. 10thWe have just been late night shopping at ASDA and after scanning everything through I am cream crackered. I did get myself a little treat though. I have wanted a little air freshener puffer thingie whatsit, one of the ornamental looking ones, for a long time, and today there were some at a fraction of their normal price because the fragrance is going out of fashion. However, once this fragrance is exhausted I can buy other fragrances. The device only send fragrance when it is pushed, so in theory it lasts for a couple of months but good old Chaos can not resist puffing the thing every time he goes past, so I rather doubt it will last that long! Kitten Cat thinks it is the Devil incarnate and has had several cautious attempts at swiping it from the shelf onto the floor. I think it is the puff noise which is irritating her. Rotten owner that I am I don't care, giggle. I love the fragrance. 9thMarjorydaw came round last evening and bought me a lovely lamb faced mug full of chocolate easter eggs. Woohoo! Now THAT is the way to treat a Foxy Lady. Naturally Kitten Cat is trying to access the mug and eggs but chocolate is a no no so she has to sulk about it. Oh life is so hard for Kitten Cats. This thing is loading so slowly today that I feel as thought I am going to drop off to sleep waiting for each page. My sites are being repaired one by one so hopefully next week I shall be able to have a grand contest to make up for the down time. We are apparently expecting a quiet weekend here in Foxy Land and that would be very welcome so that I can catch up with online matters. However, I am not holding my breath . . . 8thI can not get warm today and the treatment to regularise the thyroxine absorption hasn't worked yet so we have a corpse in need of a shroud here today, big time. Kitten Cat is maximising this great opportunity to shred whatsoever she likes because she knows by the time I have managed to get to my feet she can be anywhere else in the flat that she wishes. She will still expect her treats this evening and like a soft fool I shall probably give them to her too because I love to watch her either chase or catch to command and she has become extremely adept at the catch too. I am trying to teach her to bring her toy to me in exchange for a reward because she drags it across the room then sits beside it with big, pleading eyes and expects me to haul myself over to pick it up and play with her. I got a sad newsletter today from my local MP to let everyone know he is standing down at the General Election, which is a real blow since I have come to know him well over the years and he has been extremely helpful to me. I suppose there will be no MP surgeries at all during the election campaign and that is also sad because every time I have been to a surgery it has been packed out with people. What are we all going to do! 7thWell, I have found out why I feel like rabbit pooh all the time, I have stopped absorbing Thyroxine and I is sick, sick, sick. This happens from time to time and thankfully corrects itself so although it is a pain and a nuisance at least I know it is not anything to worry about. I am back on monthly blood tests and follow up, sigh. The only good thing is that I get a monthly pick at the free books box in the surgery. Books are placed in thereby people who have finished reading them and other people read them. I have to admit to rarely taking a book back but I do take in a lot of magazines. Site wise I still have four sites to be repaired by the host but at least things are moving in the right direction at last. I filled a very satisfying survey today wherein I could thoroughly rubbish the mutant ninja washer dryer. Childish, I know, but it does make me feel good to let the world know about this defective machine. On the four legged front Kitten Cat's big (enormous, actually) sister has had to be fitted with a collar with a bell to stop her decimating the local wildlife. I give it forty eight hours max before the collar is hung from a branch, giggle. 6thI have been down to the coast today. One of the meetings was close enough so we took a smal detour. I did not go paddling, not this time, and probably this was just as well as it is absolutely freeeeezin here. I treated myself to some hanging files for the new pink cabinet too so it was a successful day. Another source of joy is that my Host is apparently well. Back ups hae started to come through for Victorianemails, so hopefully all sites will be running properly within the next few hours. Phew! Double rejoice. My Host is all right and the sites are all right. The only fly in the ointment is that I have been recalled to my doctor because the blood tests which were taken last week are not showing good results. Which is about normal for me. I do not think I have had an entirely normal set of blood results in all the time they have been taking them, and thankfully it does not seem to have any serious ill effect for me. 5thi hope you had a happy and peaceful Easter Sunday. I was hijacked by friends and forced to eat a delicious meal and lots of chocolate. Oh I put up a fight but I just had to go along, giggle. Tomorrow I am hoping to receive news of the host on five of my sites so that I can move forward on that, and there are some other meetings scheduled for the week, so it looks like a busy one and a good thing that I have rested up over the weekend. Hopefully there will also be more happenings to record here and liven things up a bit, too. 3rdIf you are a member of one of the five sites affected by the hosting problem, this is an update for you. I am going to telephone the domain registry on Tuesday and see if they can get a message through and hopefully an answer for me so that I can make some progress. I also have some items to go onto the shop, but until I know whether this site will also have to be transferred I can not really make any progress. Apart from that I hope everyone is having a very happy Easter weekend. In Foxy Land the bathroom is going to be painted next week, so I suppose I shall have designer cat print wallpaper in all the other rooms by the end of the week! 2ndThis place has been like Picadilly Circus with wall to wall visitors. It is always lovely to see people but even Kitten Cat is hiding, exhausted! Today is of course Good Friday and time for those of us who celebrate Easter to reflect on the whole Easter story, before our glorious celebration of the Resurrection on Sunday. Tomorrow I shall have another try to track down my missing Host so that all of my sites will work correctly. I can only hope that she is well. The pink filing cabinet has arrived and already there is a problem. The moment the drawer is opened Kitten Cat is in the drawer. I am under the illusion that I shall be putting my files into that same drawer . . . I bought the filing cabinet through eBay and it was less than a third of the cost of a cabinet from a conventional shop, in part because the lock was faulty. I am extremely fortunate in that one of Chaos's many skills is that of locksmith. He looked at the lock, said "oh yes, this should bend the other way" and hey presto. I have a perfect locking (and unlocking) cabinet! Now that doesn't happen very often, does it! Maybe at last my luck is changing.
